Pure Pulp

Image
In between painting some Cowboys and In'juns, I squeezed in a couple of models from Bad Squiddo Games , and tried something a little different with one of them. I gave Bridget the Bounty Hunter her own simple diorama. It's not pictured here (as its a pain to photograph well) but the model is covered with a small glass bell jar dome to make a more bookshelf display piece. I kept this one pretty basic; Bridget just seemed at home among the ruins of a post-apocalyptic wasteland, so odd foam chunks and some aluminium wire made for a solid base, and after some filler and sand it worked out pretty well. Continuing the adverturing, pulpy theme, I was lucky to get (as a freebie with an order) one of Bad Squiddo's new Pulp heroines. The lady pictured below is Shirley, but I saw her more as a 'Dita' and some evil agent sort, hell-bend on causing trouble for folk. Again, kept it simple here, going for a traditional auburn leather flying coat, but adding a dash of b...

The Angry and Mysterious Mushroom Men ...

Image
I was recently lucky enough to be asked to paint a few more models for Annie of Bad Squiddo Games. Something a little different this time ... angry Mushroom Men and the mysterious, long-lived Old Man 'shroom! Annie asked for specific colours and the sculpts ( by Al Maguire ) have some great detail to them and - of course - were a pleasure to paint. You can find the Mushroom Ladz here -

Zombies and Amazons

Image
A few weeks back I was asked if I was able to paint up a small set of figures from Bad Squiddo Games, and I was happy to accept. Initially I had another commission lined-up, but while that was being confirmed, I had some time spare to squeeze them in. Of course, it's always a pleasure to paint anything from Badsquiddo; as well as having a nice range of genres their models have plenty of character to them, making it a breeze to let your painting creativity loose - I've long been a fan of Badsquiddo's Action Heroines duo; simple figures but brilliantly blank canvases!   Anyway. I recieved a pack of Zombie Shieldmaidens and Amazon Elite guard. Nice extremes. Grand and Grim.   Nothing too over-the-top for the Amazons; sticking to a bronze with a muted patina for the armor and plain colours for the tunics. I did, however, want to break-up that bronze a little, so made some of the details on the shin-guards and belt into turquoise gems.   The zombies were more of a chall...

Progress on Feudal Japan and Darrock done ...

Image
Somewhat lax on posting of late, but here is a picture-chunky upload to help a little. Wanted to make a little more progress on the Feudal Japan figures (no many left now), but finished Jelsen Darrock and very nearly finished Brutogg the Corpse-Eater (sorry for that ropey wip photo there!). Anyway, here's the image dump ... some slightly larger versions on my Flickr page.
