Polymer Clay ...

Image
A quickie post, just to show-orf my early trials with polymer clay. Something I've wanted to try out for ages, and finally had a try with it while stuck in a static caravan waiting for flooring to get sorted. So, yeah, these are a few months old, but I was pretty pleased with how they turned out. Okay, I know it's not the height of craftmanship, but quite liked the simplicity of the shape - an oblong of clay with a hole (where I added a piece of copper tubing, to add some interest and strengthen the hole, if someone wanted to use it as a pendant.) at the top. Let it air-dry and paint. As you can see, I kept the designs fairly simple; a Cross and a head/shoulders woman, a teardrop. Well, that's it really ... Oh, I used DAS red air-dry clay. No complaints from its initial use. A little water helps smooth it out, but I found it pretty easy stuff to use; although I HIGHLY recommend using gloves, as I found even with the best washing, you'll cover your towels in red clay! ;)

Some drawing practice ...

Image
I freely admit to being bad at drawing - my sister is the crazy-good (tattoo) artist of the fam - but I still like to sketch occasionally, and this is the result of some recent work. Nothing special, and I need to work on my eyes, but reasonably pleased.  Yup, a quickie post. Should have some model pics uploaded soon, but in the meantime, you'll have to cope with my drawings.

Some Painting ...

Image
Well, still in the throes of dealing with the consequences of an underfloor leak, I have managed to do a little bit of painting - albeit from a less-than-ideal mock up. My paints and main equipment being at hand in a suitable carry case, but still; less than perfect. Anyway, a VERY short update post on what I have done: some skin tone on a figure that has been in suspended animation for years now ... a Zombie-killer called Krystal (I think!). As of writing this out, I can't remember the maker, but I don't think they are still about, sadly, as I painted the original version and loved it, so purchased a second with a plan to convert/mod her to look like 2000AD's Venus Bluegenes. But, she fell by the wayside, and found herself in the box-of-assorted-random-stuff until now, when - in need of keeping my eye in with painting - dug her out and did some tidy-up and painting, but now for a different look. Yup; rather than Venus, I decided on a more general futuristic warrior look. N...

Completed WW2 Diorama ...

Image
Well, I finally completed my WW2 Sniper diorama. And, I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with the result. Not perfect by any means, but my first real try at putting together a simple diorama scene from start to finish. After a few tries at making the brick wall, its look once painted is one of my favourite parts of the whole model. I have to say that the quality of the Life Miniatures figure is worth noting too; a real pleasure to paint. I decided to keep the stand simple, but next time I think I'll make a dark-stained one rather than the lighter, nature wood look. Again, for my first real attempt, I'm happy with the result.
