A random selection of models, painted here-and-there between other projects. As much as I try, sometimes models lure me all too easily to paint them. On the positive side, they can act as palate cleanser when other painting gets a little mentally tedious. The first is a real grim piece from Bad Squiddo Games ; the Ghoul Matriarch. Squiddo has quite the range of ghould models - all just as beautifully horrific - and the Matriarch is the de-facto leader or figure-head of the ghoul horde. This resin model has some really nice detailing, with exposed bones, boils and a cowering male ghoul beneath her rancid foot. Nice. I went with a soft purple/violet for the skin, more to make her into a mix of ghoul and fantasy being rather than the pale sallow skin, that might suit more traditional ghouls(?) ...   Last year I was lucky enough to paint models specifically for the manufacturers of those models; such as Checkpoint, Great Escape Games and Bad Squiddo. And, toward the end of the year, I was sent a real gem by Indelible Inc - a Slann Pirate. The limited edition model (s culpted by Warfactory Minis and cast by Ramshackle Games ) is due to be given out at Lead & Steel 2025 , so if you're able to snag one, you'll have a cracking sculpt! As you can see, I stuck with a fairly traditional toady green for the skin and a retro colour scheme for the space suit. A number of other painters have been offered to paint this model too, so highly recommend a visit to Indelible Inc Warfactory Minis and Ramshackle 's facebook pages to see some of their work.

  Currently working on two futuristic military-style vehicles at the moment. Little and large, but both pretty smart ...   This natty little desert runner is all but finished apart from some wheels. I ordered a set and, as you can see, the scale/sizing was a little off. So, as of writing this post, I'm waiting on a more suitable set! But I do intend to try scratch-building a chassis for those wrong wheels.     The other is an impressive-looking transporter. At this point I'm cleaning up the body and making some repairs and removals. One of the gun-barrels on the front had broken off, so that's been pinned and guled back in place. Two others to each side of the body were also missing, so will replace them with some beefier ones. Colour-wise, the outside will be a standard olive drab, but I'm going for a cream/off-white for parts of the interior. Obviously this will be suitably weathered to show its heavy use, but will, hopefully, add a little contrast to the OD of the...

  In the past few years of painting models for both commissions and to sell on the shop, I've been slowly taking more time over the photography of the finished models. Originally it was just so I'd have a decent picture for my own portfolio, and use a plain white background. But over time I made some basic quick-n-dirty bases and backgrounds to show the model in a setting . I kept them pretty generic at first; a simple grassy base and rock backdrop and a road surface with a grey concrete backdrop. Not great, but as a start, I was encouraged by the results. It set the model off nicely and, especially for the shop, offered an impression of the model in a game setting.     After these very basic versions, I made two more, both with much more detail to them. In each case they were a little rushed, but again, showed promise and did (in my own opinion) look a step up from the previous ones.   Pretty much an image-dump for this post, but here we have a selection of futuristic vehicles in solid resin and hollow 3d print. The military vehicle is currently awaiting a set of wheels to arrive, so you can ignore the wood block holding it up!

In the process of cleaning up some American Revolutionary War settlers, but finished a few more Hasslefree models, so thought I pop up a short post. As I said previously; I've painted a couple of these figures in the distant past, and its quite nice to re-visit some of these classic figures - always liked the easy-going pose of Pilot Vic.
